Machine Learning Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid in Mississauga, Canada

Salary: CAD 115,000–125,000 annually

What you will do

• Design and operate machine learning data pipelines that ingest Oracle data, engineer features, and persist curated outputs.
• Build and validate unsupervised models including KMeans, MiniBatchKMeans, and DBSCAN using dimensionality reduction and large-scale sparse or chunked processing.
• Deploy models as REST APIs with FastAPI and Pydantic, including health endpoints, structured responses, artifact loading, logging, and operational scripts.
• Orchestrate end-to-end validation from database ingestion and feature engineering through API scoring and Oracle output tables.
• Collaborate with business teams to interpret clusters and risk buckets, explain key features, and incorporate feedback into future runs.
• Support CI/CD and deployment workflows in sandboxed and on-premise environments, including Jenkins and OpenShift pipelines.

Requirements

• 5+ years of application development experience and 3–5 years of professional data science or machine learning engineering experience.
• Strong Python skills with NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, SciPy, joblib, argparse, matplotlib, and seaborn.
• Practical experience with unsupervised learning, dimensionality reduction, cluster evaluation metrics, stability checks, and bootstrapping.
• Strong SQL and Oracle experience, including SQLAlchemy, oracledb, DDL, table creation, batch inserts, and data-type normalization.
• Experience building ETL pipelines for large datasets, REST batch prediction flows, Git-based development, and schema-compatible exports.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Enhanced Reliability Clearance from the Canadian Federal Government is a condition of employment where required.

Nice to have

• Healthcare experience, especially fraud, waste, and abuse detection in pharmacy or claims data, risk scoring, and audit support.
• Experience with masked datasets, Docker, OpenShift, and on-premise deployment patterns for machine learning APIs.
