Research Scientist

Location: Onsite in Reston, Virginia, United States. Selected candidates must work from the Reston office; relocation timelines are flexible and relocation assistance is available.

What you will do

• Develop mathematical models and advanced algorithms for research and development customers.
• Design, develop, and demonstrate prototype software and contribute to hirify.global tools.
• Apply modeling, simulation, statistical inference, optimization, signal processing, tracking, data fusion, and AI/ML methods.
• Participate in operational analysis and work with customers to gather requirements and data.
• Write and present technical briefings and collaborate in small project teams from system concept through implementation and demonstration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, physics, engineering, operations research, or a related field.
• Programming experience in Java, C, C++, MATLAB, Mathematica, and/or Python.
• Experience with mathematical modeling, simulation, signal processing, tracking and fusion, AI/ML, or physical modeling in uncertain environments.
• US citizenship is required.
• Eligibility for access to classified information and successful completion of a security investigation are required.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in a relevant technical field.
• Object-oriented programming proficiency.
• Conference or workshop presentations and academic publications.
• Active Department of Defense security clearance.
