TL;DR
Respiratory Therapist (M/W) - SEIU - Night Shift - 36 Hours per Week (Respiratory Care): Providing therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary care, ventilator care, aerosol therapy, medical gas therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation for patients across inpatient, outpatient, sub-acute, and special care nursery settings with an accent on clinical assessment, treatment planning, and accurate documentation. Focus on administering complex respiratory therapies, analyzing blood gas samples, stabilizing crisis situations, and coordinating care with physicians, nurses, patients, and families.

Location: Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, 585 Lebanon Street, Melrose, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time onsite role with night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.; every other Saturday and Sunday weekend shifts are required.

Salary: $35.72–$44.41 per hour, plus shift differentials.

What you will do

  • Assess and deliver therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary care to patients of all ages across inpatient, outpatient, sub-acute, and special care nursery settings.
  • Administer ventilator care, aerosol therapy, medical gas therapy, bronchial hygiene therapy, suctioning, oxygen therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Operate and maintain blood gas machines, draw and analyze samples, and perform oximetry while identifying inaccurate results.
  • Develop care plans, establish measurement goals, assess discharge needs, and provide patient and family education.
  • Document procedures and therapies accurately in medical records and department forms.
  • Communicate treatment recommendations and patient information effectively to physicians, nurses, families, and other staff.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Massachusetts respiratory care license required.
  • Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
  • At least two years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to assess patient status, develop treatment plans, and communicate effectively with professional staff and patients.
