TL;DR
Critical Facilities Engineer (HVAC) (Data Center Operations): Operating and maintaining HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and building automation systems for a data center and commercial office property with an accent on continuous equipment operation, tenant support, and regulatory compliance. Focus on troubleshooting critical infrastructure, testing generators and switchgear, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to after-hours emergencies.

Location: Shawnee, Kansas, United States; onsite evening shift with flexibility for night shifts and after-hours on-call emergencies

What you will do

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and related mechanical equipment to ensure continuous facility operations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, air compressors, air handling units, and other building systems.
  • Conduct utility and equipment tests for fire pumps, emergency diesel generators, and switchgear.
  • Resolve tenant maintenance and engineering issues while coordinating with property management, contractors, and data center teams.
  • Complete general building repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, walls, ceilings, and air-conditioning controls.
  • Maintain plant logs, equipment records, chemical inventories, maintenance files, and compliance documentation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; at least five years of industry experience across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work.
  • Critical facility engineering or commercial building operations and maintenance experience.
  • Computer skills and building automation systems experience required; proficiency with Tridium Niagara is strongly desired.
  • Ability to read blueprints, follow MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs, work safely, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and manage hard deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, judgment, teamwork, independent work, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, and participate in after-hours emergency on-call coverage.
