Senior Counsel-Commercial (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid — 3 days per week in the office in Columbus, Ohio or Merrillville, Indiana. Some travel of 5–10% is required.

Salary: $160,100–$240,100 per year

What you will do

• Provide proactive, strategic legal advice on complex commercial matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, technology, supply chain, and transactional agreements.
• Advise on data privacy compliance, intellectual property, technology licensing, and related transactions.
• Partner with supply chain teams on procurement strategy, vendor contracts, supplier risk, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead or support M&A transaction structuring, due diligence, documentation, and post-closing integration.
• Manage complex matters and outside counsel while coordinating consistent legal guidance across commercial functions.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state and good standing with the relevant state bar.
• At least 5 years of legal experience with meaningful exposure to at least two of the following: data privacy/IP, supply chain/procurement, or M&A/transactional law.
• Significant experience handling matters independently, managing outside counsel, and drafting and negotiating complex agreements.
• Strong business judgment, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience in the utility or another regulated industry.
• Experience at a law firm or publicly traded corporation.
• Experience with complex transaction structures, procurement regulations, import/export controls, supplier risk, and operational contracts.
