Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; onsite work at a client location or hirify.global office may be required, with remote work available when compatible with client and company needs.

Salary: USD 140,000–200,000 per year

What you will do

• Administer PostgreSQL environments across development, test, and production, including Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Azure virtual machines, and AKS.
• Tune database performance by analyzing execution plans, designing indexes and partitions, configuring autovacuum and server parameters, and resolving bloat, locks, and connection saturation.
• Design and test high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions, including replicas, zone redundancy, point-in-time restore, and failover runbooks with RPO and RTO targets.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and schema delivery with Terraform or Bicep, Azure Pipelines or GitHub Actions, Flyway, and Liquibase.
• Implement security, compliance, monitoring, capacity, and cost-management practices across the data platform.
• Collaborate with application engineers and client stakeholders on data modeling, query design, connection pooling, runbooks, standards, and knowledge transfer; participate in on-call support when required.

Requirements

• Five or more years administering PostgreSQL in production, including tuning, upgrades, backup and recovery, replication, and incident response.
• Two or more years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience, including Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server.
• Strong SQL and PL/pgSQL skills, including EXPLAIN ANALYZE, pg_stat_statements, and PostgreSQL diagnostics.
• Experience with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates; Git-based CI/CD; and operational scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of Azure networking and identity, including virtual networks, private endpoints, Key Vault, and Microsoft Entra ID.

Nice to have

• Consulting experience or experience in regulated environments such as financial services, healthcare, or the public sector.
• Azure certifications such as AZ-104 or AZ-305.
• Experience with Agile or Waterfall methodologies and full SDLC application support.
