Installation Engineer (Generators)

Location: Huntingdon, United Kingdom; on-site work with regional travel, overtime, on-call duties, weekend shifts, and occasional overnight stays.

What you will do

• Manage the hire and return process for generator sets.
• Carry out planned servicing and maintenance to maintain generator reliability and performance.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and minimise customer downtime.
• Diagnose and replace components in generator control panels when required.
• Perform load banking and mains failure testing on customer sites.
• Prepare detailed reports, provide daily updates, and coordinate repairs and scheduling with the internal service team.

Requirements

• Time-served engineer or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, including engines and alternators.
• Ability to work safely on-site and complete risk assessments.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekend shifts, occasional overnight stays, and an on-call rota.
• Strong face-to-face and telephone communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a wide range of customers.

Nice to have

• Previous generator experience.
• Prior mobile engineering experience.
