Software Engineer II (Python)

What you will do

• Design and implement backend systems for a HIPAA-compliant behavioral health patient portal.
• Own complex features end-to-end, from architecture and system design through deployment.
• Integrate with external EHR systems through asynchronous, event-driven pipelines.
• Contribute to technical design decisions and improve engineering practices through code reviews and guidance.
• Mentor junior engineers and deliver frontend features in React when needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production applications with Python, Django, or similar stacks.
• Strong systems thinking, including distributed state, failure modes, and long-term design trade-offs.
• Deep SQL and data modeling skills, including migrations, query optimization, and schema design.
• Experience with distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, event-driven architecture, and message queues.
• Proficiency with AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, and SNS, plus experience with React.
• Daily proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar solutions.

• Experience in healthcare or other compliance-heavy domains.
• Experience integrating EHRs or third-party platforms.
• Interest in growing toward technical leadership.
