Текст:
TL;DR
Computational Physicist - Fluid Dynamics (Fusion Energy): Developing multi-material radiation hydrodynamics models and robust numerical methods for inertial confinement fusion with an accent on computational fluid dynamics, finite element methods, and high-performance scientific computing. Focus on coupling hydrodynamics with radiation transport, analyzing accuracy and stability, and validating simulations of complex high-energy-density flows.
Location: On-site in Denver, Colorado, United States. The role requires candidates to be U.S. citizens or nationals, current U.S. permanent residents, or individuals lawfully admitted as refugees or granted asylum in the United States.
Company
supports the theoretical and computational development of models relevant to inertial confinement fusion and fusion energy.
What you will do
- Implement and improve multi-material modeling approaches, including interface tracking, interface capturing, and mixture models.
- Couple hydrodynamics with radiation transport and other physics modules across equation-of-state and opacity models.
- Develop and analyze invariant-domain preserving and other robust numerical methods for multi-material and compressible flows.
- Investigate the accuracy, stability, and convergence of numerical schemes and solve complex inverse and forward problems in high-energy-density physics.
- Contribute test problems, physical analysis, verification, validation, technical documentation, and scientific publications.
- Collaborate with physicists, applied mathematicians, software engineers, and verification and validation specialists.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computational Physics, or a closely related field focused on numerical methods for fluid dynamics.
- Strong background in PDE numerical analysis, particularly for fluid dynamics, and experience with invariant-domain preserving methods or comparable robust discretization frameworks.
- Experience with finite element methods and deal.II or a similar framework.
- Scientific software development experience in C++ and high-performance computing with MPI-based parallelism and large-scale simulations.
- Familiarity with multi-material CFD modeling and verification and validation of numerical methods.
- Must meet U.S. citizenship, nationality, permanent residency, or qualifying refugee/asylee status requirements.
Nice to have
- Background in radiation hydrodynamics, high-energy-density physics, or related multiphysics domains.
- Experience modeling multi-material compressible flows and coupling hydrodynamics with radiation transport.
- Experience contributing to large, research-grade scientific codebases.
- Ability to balance theoretical rigor with practical computational implementation.
Culture & Benefits
- Full-time employment in an on-site scientific and engineering environment.
- Opportunities to contribute to technical documentation, peer-reviewed journal articles, and conference papers.
