What you will do
- Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and overhaul gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
- Service engines, transmissions, drivetrains, fuel, ignition, electrical, brake, suspension, steering, and hydraulic systems.
- Transport equipment, tools, and materials to remote test locations and support field-site setup, teardown, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Fabricate and machine replacement parts using lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and other standard equipment.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications, select materials and tooling, and fit, assemble, and align machined parts.
- Inspect repairs and fabricated components with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments, while maintaining service and machining records.
Requirements
- Secret security clearance required.
- Completion of a relevant formal apprenticeship, technical school program, or military training in vehicle maintenance, diesel mechanics, or machining; alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent with five years of relevant experience.
- At least four years of motor vehicle maintenance and repair experience, including diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding vehicle systems and assemblies.
- Ability to operate and maintain machine-shop equipment and use precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to work in field environments, transport equipment, maintain documentation, and adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
- No supervisory responsibilities; overtime may be required.
Nice to have
- At least two years of machining and fabrication experience.
- Experience supporting military, test range, or heavy equipment maintenance operations.
- Experience with lathes, milling machines, and remote site work.
- CompTIA Security+, Network+, Microsoft, Linux, or VMware certifications, or knowledge of DoD RMF and STIG compliance.
