Sr. Director, Pharmacology

Location: San Diego, California, United States; five days per week on-site

Salary: $238,900–$358,300 annually, plus annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Direct pharmacology strategy across multiple drug discovery programs, including potency, efficacy, and mechanism-of-action assays.
• Lead the Pharmacology department and provide scientific, operational, and people leadership.
• Oversee the design, development, execution, analysis, and interpretation of in vitro and in vivo assays.
• Set priorities, allocate resources, manage budgets and hiring, and develop scientific staff.
• Drive study planning, data quality, reporting, publications, patents, and regulatory documentation compliance.
• Partner across functions and sites to shape research direction, reduce project risk, and communicate recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Pharmacology or a related field, with relevant post-doctoral industry experience.
• 12+ years of drug discovery experience, including demonstrated excellence in early-stage drug discovery and development.
• Deep expertise in pharmacology, in vitro and in vivo assay design, execution, analysis, and interpretation.
• Extensive experience with ion channel pharmacology, electrophysiology, and mechanism-of-action studies.
• Proven experience managing functional or cross-functional research groups, including Ph.D. scientists and Research Associates.
• Strong strategic thinking, communication, mentoring, recruiting, and team leadership skills in a fast-paced matrixed research environment.
