TL;DR

Location: Onsite at AFRC01, Edwards Air Force Base, California, supporting NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center. Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. After-hours incident and emergency response may be required.

Salary: $62,752.39–$94,128.58 USD annually

What you will do

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Plan and site EHS programs.
  • Oversee confined space, lockout/tagout, fall protection, PPE, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, and environmental compliance programs.
  • Conduct facility inspections, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses; track corrective and preventive actions through closure.
  • Document and investigate incidents, near misses, safety observations, aircraft mishaps, and emergency events.
  • Coordinate EHS training, maintain certification records, and support awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and safety stand-downs.
  • Track EHS metrics and support NASA, OSHA, AS9100/9110, and internal and external audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, engineering, or a related field; equivalent military or technical experience is accepted.
  • At least 7 years of progressively responsible EHS experience, including 3 years in aerospace, manufacturing, or maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NASA, DoD, FAA, and NASA SHEMP requirements.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/9110 and ISO 14001 management systems, risk assessment, hazard analysis, and corrective action management.
  • U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance are required; background check and drug screening must be passed.
  • Strong communication, leadership, reporting, Microsoft Office, and EHS reporting-system skills.

Nice to have

  • Certified Safety Professional or Associate Safety Professional certification.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification.
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour or equivalent hazardous materials training.
  • ISO 14001/45001 internal auditor certification.
