Assistant Athletic Trainer

Location: Prairie View, Texas, United States; on-site role with required travel to home and away athletic events, including work beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays.

What you will do

• Provide athletic training services to varsity student-athletes under the direction of the head athletic trainer and team physician.
• Prevent, recognize, evaluate, and treat athletic injuries, including acute care, emergency response, rehabilitation, and reconditioning.
• Provide athletic training coverage for home and away practices and competitions.
• Maintain individual medical records, daily injury reports, and annual injury summaries.
• Supervise athletic training students and hire, train, supervise, and evaluate graduate assistant athletic trainers.
• Coordinate athletic training equipment and supply inventories and support the Athletic Training Program.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in athletic training, sports administration, or a related field.
• No prior experience is required.
• BOC certification and a Texas athletic trainer license or temporary permit by the date of hire.
• Ability to multitask, work cooperatively, perform under stress, communicate effectively, and use keyboarding and communications equipment.
• Must be able to travel and work beyond normal hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Employment may be affected if immigration sponsorship is required; the university will not pay the $100,000 H-1B petition fee.
