Software Developer (Java)

Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota campus; hybrid arrangement with in-office work at least 3 days per week for associates within a 90-minute commute

Estimated base pay: $72,000–$134,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, code, configure, test, integrate, implement, and support software solutions.
• Collaborate with development teams and business partners in an agile environment.
• Provide ongoing application support and participate in an on-call production support rotation.
• Perform analysis and development activities for medium- to high-complexity solutions.
• Support technology modernization and learn technologies used in new implementations.
• Maintain knowledge of billing, premium, beneficiary management, illustrations, and related system integrations.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of software development experience with Java and familiarity with JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and modern development workflows.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues, ask questions, incorporate code review feedback, and collaborate effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a complex domain involving customer and employee data.
• Accountability, curiosity, problem-solving ability, and willingness to grow technical skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, JUnit, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server.
• Experience deploying applications with Kubernetes and using AWS services including EC2, Serverless, and Lambda.
• Experience with web applications, backend services, and their integrations.
• Experience with Informatica PowerCenter.
