Group Leader - Ambient Air Laboratory

Location: Onsite at the Deer Park, Texas laboratory, USA. Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; overtime, weekend, holiday, and occasional split-shift work may be required based on client needs.

Salary: $55,000–$80,000 per year, plus an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Direct daily operations in a high-throughput environmental laboratory and manage backlog workflows and operational efficiency.
• Supervise personnel, manage timekeeping and performance evaluations, coach employees, and allocate staff effectively.
• Perform ambient air sample analysis, solution and standard preparation, and analytical method development as needed.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and manage inventory of consumables, reagents, and components.
• Review and upload data for client reports and communicate across laboratory departments, Project Managers, and senior management.
• Implement quality updates, process optimization strategies, GLP practices, and non-conformance investigations while maintaining operational coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related scientific field.
• 3–5 years of laboratory experience in ambient air analytical testing.
• 1–3 years of supervisory experience in a production laboratory environment, with the ability to develop and lead teams.
• Experience organizing workflows, managing competing priorities, handling non-routine samples, and managing high-volume preparation schedules.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with LIMS and the ability to apply quality, health, and safety procedures in laboratory operations.
