Explosive Operator (Explosives Manufacturing)

Location: Parsons, Kansas, United States; onsite

Salary: $23.58 per hour; Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m., up to 60 hours per week.

Day & Zimmermann provides the onsite team and work environment for explosives manufacturing operations.

What you will do

• Operate computer controls, loss-in-weight feeders, thermocouple thermometers, and 5-, 50-, and 250-gallon kettles.
• Activate and monitor systems associated with the Explosive Melt System for different types of explosives.
• Prepare explosives for each pour at the start and end of the workday.
• Follow approved standard operating procedures and coordinate pre- and post-operation system checks.
• Clean work areas across all floors as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of experience operating and monitoring production equipment.
• Safety awareness, decision-making, mathematical, communication, and computer skills.
• Ability to regularly perform all job functions at the company office or worksite in Parsons, Kansas.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting objects over 15 pounds, climbing, kneeling, crouching, repetitive motion, and working in heat, cold, fumes, odors, gases, or extreme noise.
