Supplier Quality Engineer II (Aerospace)

Location: Huntsville, AL, United States; travel to customer and supplier locations is required, with approximately 30% travel.

What you will do

• Manage material review boards and drive resolution of nonconformance reports through containment, root-cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action.
• Facilitate root cause corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives using quality data, audits, and trend analysis.
• Audit manufacturing processes and documentation for compliance with specifications, engineering drawings, procedures, AS9100, and AS9110.
• Lead planning, review, approval, and application of First Article Inspections.
• Design and maintain inspection, testing, quality evaluation, and process-control methods.
• Provide technical leadership to quality teams and collaborate with production, engineering, inspectors, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in a related field with 5+ years of supplier, manufacturing, or quality engineering experience; alternatively, a bachelor's degree with 6 years of experience or a high school diploma with 12 years of experience.
• Experience in the aerospace or defense industry, including aviation quality, supplier auditing and qualification, RCCA, and CAPA.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Experience with troubleshooting, Lean or Six Sigma tools, GD&T, inspection gauges, measuring equipment, and mechanical/electrical drawing interpretation.
• Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts with suppliers and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and government representatives.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Government Security Clearance and travel to customer or supplier locations.

Nice to have

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Supplier Quality Professional certification.
• Expertise in Critical Safety Items, metallurgy, machining, finishing, or printed circuit board production.
• Experience with Deltek ERP tools, Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Word.
