Specialized Coder (Cardiology)

Location: Onsite at Tower – Reading Hospital in West Reading, Pennsylvania; limited to individuals who reside and are authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $29.75–$32.70 per hour based on experience; $3,000 sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Code physician claims directly from medical records and operative reports according to coding guidelines.
• Complete assigned work queues accurately and on time while meeting quality and productivity metrics.
• Track coding issues and trends, support denied-claim research, and assist leadership with resolution and education.
• Provide or support provider education and develop educational tools for physicians and coding teams.
• Monitor payer guidelines, Correct Coding Initiative edits, and Local and National Coverage Determinations.
• Mentor and train coders, communicate with physicians and colleagues, and participate in coding meetings and related projects.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of coding experience, including extensive physician coding experience.
• Expertise in cardiology, cardiovascular thoracic surgery, or vascular surgery coding.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Experience with EPIC, coding software tools, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong organization, communication, time management, troubleshooting, problem-solving, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
• Current certification required: CPC, CCS, RHIA, or RHIT. CPC is preferred, with CCVTC and/or CIRCC also preferred.

Nice to have

• CCVTC and/or CIRCC certification in addition to CPC.
