TL;DR
Patient Access Liaison - Rare Disease - US Field (West) (patient access and reimbursement): Supporting patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and sites of care in navigating coverage, prior authorization, reimbursement, and financial assistance for infused and specialty therapies with an accent on rare disease access and reimbursement barriers. Focus on resolving denied claims, educating providers on coding and billing, managing complex patient cases, and coordinating cross-functional access initiatives across an assigned field geography.

Location: US - California - Los Angeles; field-based role with travel of up to 50%, including occasional overnight and weekend commitments.

Annual base salary: $158,394–$185,578 for Level 5 or $164,276–$222,256 for Level 6.

What you will do

  • Support patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and sites of care with insurance benefits, prior authorization, reimbursement, and financial assistance pathways.
  • Investigate and resolve coverage challenges, denied claims, reimbursement barriers, and access issues before and after infusion.
  • Educate physician offices and infusion centers on coverage requirements, coding, billing, and reimbursement practices.
  • Build relationships with patients and caregivers through phone, virtual, and in-person engagement, and secure required HIPAA authorizations.
  • Collaborate with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Advocacy, Case Management, Marketing, and Site of Care teams.
  • Document activities accurately, report adverse events and product complaints, and follow compliance and pharmacovigilance procedures.

Requirements

  • Level 5 qualification: doctorate; or master’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience; or bachelor’s degree with 4 years; or associate’s degree with 8 years; or high school diploma/GED with 10 years.
  • Level 6 qualification: doctorate with 2 years of relevant experience; master’s degree with 4 years; or bachelor’s degree with 6 years.
  • Experience or knowledge in patient services, access and reimbursement, prior authorization, appeals, denied claims, healthcare reimbursement, coding, and billing.
  • Ability to manage complex patient situations, resolve access barriers, respond to urgent access needs, and work effectively in a matrix field environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, FDA regulations, internal compliance guidance, and OIG requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, verbal communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with buy-and-bill or infused pharmaceutical therapies.
  • Rare disease or orphan drug experience.
  • Clinical background in nursing or allied health.
  • Experience working in cross-functional field teams and familiarity with Microsoft Office, CRM, AI, and relevant systems.
