TL;DR
Construction Inspector - Project Administrator (Civil Infrastructure): Supporting construction engineering and inspection for transportation and civil infrastructure projects with an accent on field coordination, inspection documentation, quantity verification, and contractor communication. Focus on managing inspectors, resolving construction and design issues, overseeing quality testing, and maintaining schedules, budgets, estimates, and FDOT-compliant project records.

Location: Field-based construction work in the United States; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What you will do

  • Coordinate construction-phase operations, field personnel, contractors, utility companies, clients, and project teams.
  • Prepare daily inspection summaries, review construction records, and maintain project documentation in accordance with FDOT procedures.
  • Track completed work quantities, review computations, and prepare progress and final estimates for payment.
  • Manage inspector assignments and schedules while monitoring work zone traffic control and erosion control plans.
  • Oversee sampling, testing, and quality documentation for materials and completed work.
  • Analyze field construction and design problems, support change-order negotiations, and communicate recommendations to clients and project managers.

Requirements

  • Civil Engineering degree with two years of engineering experience in major road or bridge construction, or eight years of related engineering experience including at least two years in major road or bridge construction.
  • A Master's degree in Engineering may substitute for one year of engineering experience.
  • Project and client management skills with strong interpersonal, coordination, communication, recordkeeping, and document-control abilities.
  • Proficiency with iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, SiteManager, MAC, and/or OneDrive.
  • Ability to walk over rough and uneven terrain, stand as needed, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and full-time U.S. work authorization.

Nice to have

  • FDOT Advanced MOT certification.
  • CTQP certifications in final estimates, quality control management, concrete, asphalt roadway, earthwork, pile driving, or drilled shafts.
