Environmental Health & Safety Technician - Weekend First Shift (Fri, Sat, Sun)

Location: On-site in Devens, Massachusetts, with responsibilities at the Somerville, Massachusetts facility. Weekend first shift: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; occasional nights, weekends, travel, or on-call work may be required.

Salary: $30–$48 per hour, plus equity and benefits. Weekend shift includes a 15% differential.

What you will do

• Maintain, inspect, service, and calibrate safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, fall protection equipment, first aid kits, AEDs, safety showers, eyewash stations, lifting equipment, rigging equipment, and gas detection devices.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, workplace hazard identification, corrective actions, exposure assessments, and incident investigations.
• Support site-specific health and safety programs and provide direct safety oversight in an industrial environment.
• Manage recyclables, universal waste, waste oil, hazardous waste, labeling, storage, shipment coordination, and required records.
• Perform hazardous material storage, stormwater, environmental compliance, and due diligence inspections.
• Support spill prevention, spill response, and implementation of SPCC requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• At least 2 years of experience implementing or overseeing environmental, health, and safety programs.
• Previous construction or industrial environment experience, including safety oversight.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements from OSHA, EPA, DEC, RCRA, DOT, and related agencies.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform extended periods of standing, sitting, typing, stooping, and climbing, and to work around industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenics.

Nice to have

• Experience managing hazardous waste storage and satellite accumulation areas.
• Experience developing or implementing health and safety plans and programs.
• Emergency response experience involving hazardous or non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, or water.
• Strong hands-on work ethic, attention to detail, multitasking, organization, communication, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
