Surgical Technologist - SEIU - Operating Room - Sign On Bonus Eligible (Surgical Technology)

Location: Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, 585 Lebanon Street, Melrose, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time onsite role working four 10-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with an alternating day off and required on-call shifts approximately every six weeks from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Pay range: $35.20–$43.76 per hour. Sign-on bonus eligibility is available for experienced candidates.

What you will do

• Prepare operating rooms, case carts, instruments, and equipment for scheduled surgical procedures.
• Serve as the scrub person during procedures by maintaining the sterile field, passing instruments, and anticipating surgeon needs.
• Apply aseptic technique, maintain accurate counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments, and follow medication administration procedures.
• Assist registered nurses, transporters, anesthesiologists, and other personnel with patient transfers, equipment setup, emergency supplies, and surgical specimens.
• Update physician preference cards and report equipment or preparation issues to the Clinical Practice Leader.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program or Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Surgical Technician certification through an accredited program or certification within 12 months of completing the program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least two years of operating room experience.
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, occasionally lift 30–35 pounds, turn patients, and perform precise manual procedures.
