Senior Infrastructure Specialist zMQ

Location: Hybrid, with at least two days per week or 40% of working time in the Edinburgh, Manchester, or Leeds office, UK

Salary: £72,702–£80,780 per year

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and specialised support for complex MQ environments on z/OS.
• Shape the strategic roadmap for the mainframe MQ platform and engineering capabilities.
• Diagnose and resolve incidents and problems in business-critical online systems.
• Drive automation, DevOps adoption, standardisation, simplification, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with middleware, infrastructure, engineering teams, stakeholders, and customers to integrate MQ with modern technologies.
• Participate in out-of-hours support and delivery activities when required.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of MQ infrastructure on z/OS.
• Strong experience with MQ performance tuning, diagnosis, and problem resolution.
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting business-critical online systems.
• Experience with Transport Layer Security (TLS).
• Interest in innovation, automation, and the evolution of mainframe technologies.
• Ability to work in the hybrid office pattern in Edinburgh, Manchester, or Leeds.

Nice to have

• Experience or interest in DevOps, automation, and modern engineering approaches.
• Interest in AI and emerging technologies applied to engineering effectiveness and customer outcomes.
• Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to analyse technical information from multiple sources.
