Operations Engineer (Space)

Location: On-site in Chantilly, Virginia, United States. Minimal travel and standard working hours.

Salary: $132,000–$161,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Provide space protection operations expertise to acquisition managers and software engineers developing Indications and Warning tools for space threats.
• Represent the System Program Office on-site and coordinate with operators, developers, end users, and other stakeholders.
• Elicit operational capability needs and UI/UX preferences from users and guide mission application enhancements.
• Manage the transition of new capabilities and software deliveries into operations.
• Coordinate system documentation and operator training materials.
• Evaluate developer solutions, guide deployments, and assess software patches and fixes.

Requirements

• Active/current TS/SCI clearance with a Polygraph required.
• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field.
• At least 9 years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience in Intelligence Community or Department of War space acquisitions or mission operations.
• Experience deploying and sustaining software in a 24/7 operations center or similar environment.
• Knowledge of agile software development principles.

Nice to have

• DevOps experience, including continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment (CI/CD).
• Experience in space protection operations and familiarity with protection technologies.
• Experience authoring operator or software deployment documentation.
• Experience with space system testing, simulation, and modeling environments.
• Knowledge of orbital mechanics and orbit determination fundamentals.
