Lab Manager, Immunoassay Development (Biotech)

Location: San Carlos, California, United States; onsite at least 4 days per week

Salary: $128,000–$150,000 annually in the San Francisco Bay Area

What you will do

• Coordinate daily CMC Immunoassay laboratory operations, scheduling, equipment readiness, sample flow, reagent flow, and issue escalation.
• Manage critical reagents, reference standards, assay controls, customized assay materials, inventory, expiry tracking, replenishment, and stability activities.
• Support monoclonal antibody generation, characterization, qualification, conjugation, labeling, and assay suitability testing.
• Perform hands-on testing for reagent characterization, lot comparison, stability studies, method development, platform evaluation, qualification, and routine analysis.
• Coordinate procurement, vendor interactions, CRO/CDMO activities, material shipments, purchase orders, and outsourced deliverables.
• Maintain inspection-ready records and improve laboratory workflows, documentation systems, inventory processes, and operational readiness.

Requirements

• MS in Biochemistry, Immunology, Analytical Chemistry, Biological Sciences, or a related field with at least 3 years of relevant biopharmaceutical laboratory experience; or BS with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience supporting monoclonal antibody generation, screening, characterization, qualification, conjugation, labeling, or lifecycle management is required.
• Experience managing critical reagents, reference standards, assay controls, calibrators, or customized materials for immunoassays or ligand-binding assays.
• Experience with ELISA, MSD, electrochemiluminescence, bead-based, multiplex, or other ligand-binding assay platforms.
• Experience with laboratory operations, procurement, inventory systems, sample logistics, equipment coordination, stability studies, and inspection-ready documentation.
• Ability to work onsite in San Carlos, California, at least 4 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with antibody engineering, recombinant antibody production, hybridoma workflows, purification, biotinylation, ruthenium or fluorescent labeling, and bead conjugation.
• Experience establishing or scaling laboratories, including equipment onboarding, storage setup, inventory implementation, and workflow organization.
• Experience with GMP-regulated analytical environments, MSD custom plates, multiplex materials, LIMS, ELN, or digital data analysis tools.
• Experience supporting vaccine, biologics, conjugated vaccine, multivalent vaccine, or complex analytical development programs.
