TL;DR
Automated Test Engineer (ATE) (C#, Java, Python): Developing and executing automated and manual test plans, cases, scripts, and metrics for Veterans Affairs information systems with an accent on test automation, performance testing, API validation, and defect resolution. Focus on designing risk-based testing approaches, validating databases and services, supporting CI/CD, and solving complex software quality problems.
Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will not be considered. The posting also lists Southaven, Mississippi.
Salary: $85,389–$116,975 per year

What you will do
- Develop test plans, schedules, test cases, scripts, procedures, and test data.
- Lead manual and automated testing of information systems, software, web applications, APIs, and services.
- Conduct verification activities and test reviews with test managers, requirements leads, project managers, and development leads.
- Document test results, metrics, defects, complex problems, and progress toward resolution.
- Support performance, security, functional, regression, integration, system, usability, and UAT testing.
- Provide technical solutions, improve testing procedures, and occasionally support requirements, design, installation, operation, and sustainment activities.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) and pass the required government investigation.
- At least 10 years of total professional experience, including 10 or more years in software testing and quality assurance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in C#, .NET, Java, or Python, with experience in both manual and automated testing.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum, SDLC, test automation frameworks, CI/CD, version control, SQL, defect tracking, test management, and DevOps tools.
Nice to have
- ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA, or another advanced testing or quality assurance certification.
- Experience with EDI X.12 and medical claims formats such as 837, 834, and 277.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, JMeter, Gatling, Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, or LoadRunner.
