Design Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Columbus, Indiana, United States; onsite

What you will do

• Gather customer requirements, research benchmarks, document needs, and track potential product-design risks.
• Translate customer requirements into product specifications and align feature and performance expectations with customer representatives.
• Plan and coordinate product development activities, documentation, technical reviews, testing, and validation.
• Validate product designs using stack-ups, DFMEA, finite element analysis, Design for Assembly/Manufacturing studies, and Noise, Vibration, and Harshness studies.
• Define key product characteristics, develop bills of materials, and prepare drawings and technical presentations.
• Obtain prototype, part, drawing, and final production approvals and support product launch activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or NX.
• Knowledge of GD&T principles.
• Ability to work on broad product-development projects and solve non-routine technical problems.

Nice to have

• Exposure to forging, casting, or metalworking.
