Cardiac Sonographer

Location: Tufts Medical Center; on-site work across the echocardiography laboratory, cardiac catheterization laboratory, intensive care unit, and ward units.

Pay range: $40.53–$51.67 per hour. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for new external hires.

What you will do

• Perform cardiac ultrasound examinations and echocardiograms using M-mode, 2-D, 3-D, pulsed-wave, continuous-wave, and color Doppler techniques.
• Provide preliminary interpretation of study results and contribute technical expertise to cardiologist reports and echo reading sessions.
• Assist physicians with transesophageal, intraoperative, three-dimensional, and research-related cardiac studies.
• Acquire, export, and analyze three-dimensional echocardiographic data for assessment of cardiac anatomy and function.
• Prepare patients, explain procedures, obtain relevant clinical information, and ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Maintain equipment, documentation, quality control, infection-control standards, supplies, and training materials for sonographers and interns.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Radiology or a related field.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer certification through ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer certification through CCI.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and the ability to tailor examinations to individual patients.
• Ability to perform Doppler, M-mode, B-scan, real-time, small-parts, venous, and carotid ultrasound procedures.
• Strong communication, attention to detail, independent judgment, and ability to work with patients, physicians, families, and hospital staff.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Science.
• Two years of clinical experience.
