Staff Software Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Own the technical vision and architecture of the AI platform and communicate design decisions across stakeholder groups.
• Drive technical strategy, build-versus-buy evaluations, design reviews, code reviews, and release readiness.
• Build AI platform components including agent orchestration, tool systems, prompt management, and integration APIs.
• Develop stateful, edge-based systems with TypeScript, Hono, Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects, D1, Drizzle, and Anthropic Claude through the AI SDK.
• Design secure, scope-aware tools and fault-tolerant integrations with orders, inventory, knowledge-base, and downstream services.
• Mentor engineers, improve technical decision-making, create reusable abstractions, and partner with Product, Data Science, and ML Engineering.

Requirements

• 3+ years of production experience with TypeScript and ownership of large TypeScript codebases.
• Experience designing stateful distributed systems at the edge or with comparable edge runtimes.
• Production experience building and shipping agentic or LLM-powered features, including prompt engineering, tool calling, and context management.
• Experience with event streaming platforms such as Redpanda or Kafka, RESTful APIs, OpenAPI, event-driven architectures, SQL, and PostgreSQL, SQLite, or D1.
• Hands-on experience with Cloudflare, GCP, or AWS, plus production observability using OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or similar tools.
• Strong technical leadership, communication, mentoring, architectural judgment, and directed use of AI coding tools.

Nice to have

• Elixir/Phoenix, Cloudflare developer platform, Anthropic Claude, AI SDK, or Model Context Protocol experience.
• Knowledge of logistics, e-commerce, or supply chain domains.
• Open-source TypeScript or AI contributions, WebSocket-based systems, scope-based authorization, or multi-tenant systems experience.
