Associate or Full Professor and Department Chair - Educational Leadership & Counseling

Location: Kingsville, Texas, United States; the role includes face-to-face, hybrid, and online teaching, travel to meetings, and university events as needed.

What you will do

• Serve as Department Chair for 50% of the appointment and teach graduate and doctoral courses for the remaining 50%.
• Provide academic advising, mentor graduate and doctoral students, and chair or serve on dissertation committees.
• Maintain an active scholarship program through research, publications, presentations, and external grant seeking.
• Lead departmental planning, budgeting, scheduling, personnel processes, operations, accreditation, assessment, and program review.
• Conduct faculty and staff evaluations, support faculty development, and foster collaborative research and grant development.
• Promote shared governance, transparent communication, student recruitment and retention, program growth, and engagement with university and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, Counseling, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Tenured Associate Professor or Professor with demonstrated excellence in graduate teaching, scholarship, and service.
• Record of academic leadership, departmental planning, administration, and budget oversight.
• Experience with faculty and staff evaluations, accreditation, and program review.
• Evidence of grant writing or external funding experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and university leadership while addressing the educational needs of diverse student populations.

Nice to have

• Three or more years of personnel supervision and budget management.
• Fundraising, external partnerships, online graduate education, or curriculum revision experience.
• Experience with culturally responsive pedagogy, doctoral teaching, dissertation chairing, or K–12 leadership.
