Associate or Full Professor and Department Chair - Teacher and Bilingual Education

Location: Kingsville, Texas, United States; ability to travel between Kingsville and the Rio Grande Valley and to partner sites as needed.

What you will do

• Serve as department chair for 50% of the appointment and teach for 50% in a field within Teacher and Bilingual Education.
• Teach undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats; develop course materials and advise students.
• Maintain an active research and publication program, seek internal and external grants, and support faculty scholarship.
• Lead departmental planning, budgeting, scheduling, personnel administration, operations, accreditation, assessment, and program review.
• Recruit and retain students, support program growth, liaise with educator preparation and university units, and engage community stakeholders.
• Evaluate and mentor faculty, recommend personnel actions, serve on university committees, and promote shared governance and transparent communication.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate in Teacher and Bilingual Education or a closely related discipline.
• Tenured Associate Professor or Professor with demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, professional development, and service.
• Academic leadership experience including planning, administration, personnel supervision, and budget oversight.
• Successful experience with accreditation and program reviews.
• Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders, with a commitment to educator preparation and serving diverse student populations.
• Ability to perform essential duties on location and travel between Kingsville, the Rio Grande Valley, meetings, and partner sites.

Nice to have

• Three or more years managing budgets and supervising personnel.
• Fundraising, advancement, or educator preparation program experience.
• Graduate teaching and at least five years of PreK-12 teaching experience.
• Experience with curriculum revision, culturally responsive pedagogy, technology-enhanced learning, and grant writing.
