Bioinformatics Software Engineer

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test API web services enabling third-party integrations with AmpliSeq Designer.
• Build the core service, including authentication, status notifications, versioning, and related functionality.
• Integrate APIs with backend data analysis pipelines and SQL databases.
• Document and maintain API specifications and coordinate with API clients.
• Develop automation tools and scripts for testing APIs with real and mock data.
• Collaborate with software developers and bioinformatics scientists in an agile release process for Ion Torrent DNA sequencing applications.

Requirements

• Experience with multiple complete product development life cycles, from concept through testing and final release.
• Proven expertise with Java and web-service frameworks such as Play or Dropwizard.
• Experience designing APIs, building RESTful web services, and working with SQL databases.
• Proven expertise with Perl, Python, or UNIX scripting.
• Strong communication, organization, critical-thinking, and delivery skills.
• Availability to work in South San Francisco, California, United States on a full-time temporary contract.

Nice to have

• Bioinformatics knowledge in genomics, molecular biology, NGS, assay design, bioinformatics tools, and file formats.
• Experience with cloud computing, AWS, Docker, and service scaling.
