QC Analytical Manager (Materials Testing)

Location: Warrington, UK; onsite work at the Warrington site and laboratory

What you will do

• Lead the Quality Control team across three locations, including laboratory technicians and analysts in a 24/7 operation.
• Manage the Materials Testing and Analytical Laboratory and establish a testing service supporting innovation and application development.
• Ensure accurate, timely, and reliable testing, approve fit-for-purpose methods, and implement ISO, ASTM, BSI, or equivalent standards.
• Provide materials science and analytical interpretation of test results for production, innovation, R&D, and customer quality complaints.
• Drive continuous improvement, statistical process control, resource planning, training, and cross-functional capability development.
• Maintain laboratory safety, calibration, documentation, chemical-waste controls, 5S standards, SOPs, risk assessments, and relationships with external testing providers.

Requirements

• Strong background in quality control, testing, or laboratory management.
• BSc or higher in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Physics, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
• 8–10 years of formal qualification or relevant experience in a materials testing or analytical environment.
• Experience managing technical teams, including shift teams with limited direct contact.
• Knowledge of quality systems and standards such as ISO 9001 and GMP, with strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Substantial knowledge of polymeric materials, especially plastics, polyurethanes, rubber, and their properties, plus experience handling and testing hazardous materials such as hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid.
