Gas Storage Engineer - Midstream

Location: Hybrid in downtown Houston, Texas, with in-office work Monday through Wednesday and work-from-home Thursday and Friday; up to 10% travel may be required.

What you will do

• Plan and execute operating and maintenance activities for underground natural gas storage assets, including salt caverns and depleted reservoirs.
• Collaborate with Field Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Gas Control, Corrosion, Regulatory, and other stakeholders to meet deliverability, injectivity, and reliability targets.
• Identify, evaluate, document, and mitigate well integrity threats.
• Perform risk assessments, risk ranking, and long-term well integrity planning.
• Provide technical support for well, reservoir, and subsurface engineering activities.
• Maintain and improve gas storage databases, well risk matrices, logging schedules, well files, and related applications.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of experience in underground natural gas storage, reservoir engineering, or the regulated gas industry; relevant internships, research, coursework, or co-op experience may qualify recent graduates.
• Foundational knowledge of reservoir engineering, including material balance, performance monitoring, and basic forecasting.
• Basic understanding of wellbore, wellhead, downhole operations, well logging techniques, and introductory interpretation.
• Ability to analyze data, identify issues, support technical solutions, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and willingness to comply with PHMSA drug testing requirements.
• Availability for the required hybrid schedule and occasional after-hours support.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of underground natural gas storage standards, practices, and procedures.
• Familiarity with API RP 1170 and 1171.
• Understanding of well integrity risks in depleted reservoirs and salt cavern storage.
• Knowledge of failure pressure and safe operating pressure calculations for well components.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and data management tools, along with analytical and communication skills.
