Senior Lab Technician (Microbiology)

Location: King St, Hastings, New Zealand. Onsite laboratory role with full working rights in New Zealand required.

What you will do

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the laboratory and act for the Laboratory Manager during their absence.
• Maintain laboratory quality standards, including ISO 17025 and RLP criteria.
• Manage complex and urgent laboratory matters in support of the Laboratory Manager.
• Support laboratory technician training and supervisory activities.
• Check equipment calibrations, source alternative equipment, and maintain the quality of laboratory results.
• Ensure equipment, reagents, and media are calibrated and verified according to the laboratory manual.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification such as a Bachelor of Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a similar field.
• Strong, proven laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
• Proactive approach with strong communication and people leadership capabilities.
• Full working rights in New Zealand required.

Nice to have

• Exposure to people leadership.
• Experience with a LIMS database.
