Electronics Technician

Location: Onsite in Upton, New York, United States

Salary: $85,500–$128,883 per year, depending on qualifications, education, experience, and internal leveling.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot and repair complex power supplies, control systems, and other electronic equipment using standard test equipment.
• Support the development, fabrication, assembly, wiring, and testing of prototype power supplies and electronic systems.
• Repair and replace components and circuit boards in electronic systems.
• Read and work from schematics, diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings, and written procedures.
• Support laboratory operations while maintaining applicable safety practices and procedures.
• Respond to emergency call-ins and work occasional nights, weekends, and other off-hours for mission-critical projects.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent plus one of the listed technical education and experience combinations, including up to 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with analog and digital electronics, computers, fabrication, assembly, wiring, and electronics testing.
• Proficiency with function generators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other standard test equipment.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, plus basic machine shop skills.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds, walk and stand continuously, climb ladders, and work at heights up to 30 feet.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Uncleared Personal Identity Verification (UPIV) credential and meet federal site-access requirements.
