TL;DR
National Industrial Security Program Security Specialist (Defense): Supporting NISPOM compliance and classified-information security programs for a U.S. government contracting environment with an accent on personnel security, DCSA requirements, and physical protection measures. Focus on maintaining GSOR and personnel-security systems, processing clearances and classified visits, conducting security training, and preparing for DCSA reviews.

Location: Columbia, Maryland, United States. Full-time onsite role with less than 5% travel. U.S. citizenship and active TS/SCI eligibility, with the ability to maintain eligibility, are required.

Salary: $78,000–$100,000 per year

What you will do

  • Support implementation of 32 CFR Part 117, NISPOM, DCSA guidance, contract security requirements, and company security procedures.
  • Support clearance processing, onboarding and offboarding, access eligibility verification, personnel-security records, and classified visits.
  • Manage the protection, handling, storage, transmission, reproduction, and destruction of classified information.
  • Conduct or coordinate security briefings, refresher training, debriefings, insider-threat awareness, and required reporting training.
  • Receive and escalate security incidents, including potential violations, suspicious contacts, foreign contacts or travel, and loss or compromise events.
  • Support physical-security controls, self-inspections, corrective actions, security records, and DCSA reviews while providing delegated FSO coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117, NISPOM, applicable DCSA requirements, and U.S. Government client support.
  • Experience maintaining the Government System of Record database and using security business integrated management systems.
  • U.S. citizenship and active TS/SCI eligibility, with the ability to maintain eligibility.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, discretion, attention to detail, and records-management skills.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency with DISS, NBIS, NISS, and related personnel and industrial security systems.
  • Experience with classified-information safeguarding, vulnerability assessment, and remediation.
  • Defense, aerospace, or government-contracting security experience.
  • ISP certification or relevant CDSE training and certifications.
