Senior Firmware Engineer (Embedded C)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; occasional domestic and international travel required for customer support and installations.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain firmware for hirify.global products.
• Implement product features including feedback interfaces, communication protocols, and motion-control algorithms.
• Design new products and build proofs of concept for novel features.
• Develop continuous integration and development libraries.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and testing teams on component selection, schematics, customer libraries, and test plans.
• Improve product, architecture, design, and continuous integration documentation.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Around 8 years of engineering experience.
• Proficiency in C for resource-constrained embedded environments and bare-metal microprocessor development with real-time constraints.
• Experience with hardware board bring-up, system debugging, code optimization, MCU peripherals, schematics, datasheets, and application notes.
• Knowledge of version control and software testing procedures.
• Fluent written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of C++, Python, object-oriented programming, RTOS, MISRA, and Jenkins.
• Experience with FSoE, CANopen, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, or Profinet.
• Knowledge of motion control, robotics, medical automation, or industrial systems.
• Fluent written and spoken Spanish.
