  • Perform steady-state and transient thermal analyses for spacecraft components, subsystems, and integrated vehicles across nominal and off-nominal mission phases.
  • Conduct thermal sensitivity studies for vendor vehicle designs, Government Furnished Equipment, and requirements development.
  • Support thermal verification and validation, including test planning, thermal vacuum testing, data analysis, and model correlation.
  • Collaborate with design, systems engineering, mission operations, and hardware development teams to optimize PTCS and ATCS architectures.
  • Review designs, participate in technical reviews and anomaly investigations, and present analysis results to NASA customers and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required.
  • Background check required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience; the position may be considered at multiple levels.
  • Experience with thermal analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop, COMSOL, ANSYS Fluent, or similar software.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer, spacecraft thermal environments, thermal design validation, and requirements compliance.

Nice to have

  • 5–10 years of relevant engineering experience and aerospace thermal analysis or design experience.
  • Proficiency with Thermal Desktop.
  • Experience with Passive or Active Thermal Control System hardware design, analysis, testing, certification, or operations.
  • Familiarity with NASA Johnson Space Center processes, engineering lifecycles, and requirements verification.
  • Leadership experience coordinating work across technical disciplines.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work with NASA customers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Contribute to crewed and uncrewed human spaceflight missions.
  • Support engineering activities across the full lifecycle, from design through verification and operations.
