Senior Data Platform Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid role based in Bioggio, Canton Ticino, Switzerland

What you will do

• Design and evolve scalable data platform architectures for security, audit, operational, and analytics workloads.
• Build and operate reliable batch and streaming ingestion pipelines for logs, audit data, application events, security telemetry, and operational datasets.
• Develop relational, analytical, and event-based data models while optimizing queries, indexing, database structures, and storage efficiency.
• Implement data quality controls, validation, reconciliation, deduplication, lineage, metadata, retention, and governance processes.
• Integrate data from applications, databases, APIs, messaging systems, SIEM, monitoring, and business intelligence platforms.
• Develop data engineering services and automation with Python, SQL, CI/CD, Git, Terraform, and related tooling.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform engineering, database engineering, or a related field.
• Strong SQL expertise in schema design, data modeling, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience operating production-grade batch or streaming pipelines.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms, analytical storage, relational databases, APIs, event streams, and multiple data sources.
• Understanding of data quality, schema evolution, lineage, governance, lifecycle management, and sensitive or regulated data.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and Git-based development practices, plus strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Nice to have

• Kafka, Splunk SPL, Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Datadog, or other SIEM and observability technologies.
• Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake, Apache Hudi, Trino, Spark, Parquet, and data lakehouse architectures.
• Data cataloging, lineage, metadata management, analytics tools, Terraform, and cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience in banking, fintech, cybersecurity, compliance reporting, security telemetry, or regulated industries.
• AI/ML-ready platforms, real-time analytics, and event-driven architectures.
