TL;DR
Navigation, Guidance & Control - RPO Engineer V (Aerospace): Leading the architecture and development of relative-navigation, guidance, and control algorithms for autonomous spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking with an accent on estimation, safety-critical trajectory logic, and 6-DOF control. Focus on designing EKF/UKF sensor-fusion systems, developing V&V through closed-loop simulation and Monte Carlo analysis, and integrating algorithms with flight software and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Location: Louisville, Colorado; must be local to the work location, with occasional telework available.

Projected compensation range: $131,755.50–$229,097.25 per year.

Company

hirify.global is a federal government contractor developing aerospace and space mission systems.

What you will do

  • Own the relative-navigation, guidance, and control architecture for autonomous rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking with cooperative targets.
  • Design navigation filters, sensor fusion, and relative orbit determination using vision-based pose estimation, LIDAR, and relative GNSS.
  • Develop approach, station-keeping, inspection, safe-hold, docking, capture, and collision-avoidance algorithms.
  • Lead GN&C verification and validation through 6-DOF simulation, Monte Carlo dispersion analysis, and processor- and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Derive GN&C requirements, define software standards and testing practices, and lead technical reviews while mentoring engineers.
  • Contribute to ADCS and propulsion trades, mission planning, orbit propagation, satellite data analysis, and conceptual mission design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related computational field, plus 10–12 years of experience with a BS, 8–10 years with an MS, or 5–7 years with a PhD.
  • Strong knowledge of orbit and attitude dynamics, relative orbital mechanics, space-environment modeling, and spacecraft GN&C estimation or control theory.
  • Hands-on algorithm development experience in Python and C++ or similar languages.
  • Experience with modern software development practices and version control, preferably Git.
  • Must be a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR and able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with rendezvous, proximity operations, formation flying, on-orbit servicing, or flight GN&C.
  • Vision- or LIDAR-based relative navigation and pose estimation experience.
  • MATLAB/Simulink, model-based design, autocoding, MPC, optimal or robust control experience.
  • Embedded or real-time flight software experience, including Linux and embedded Linux.

Culture & Benefits

  • Regular full-time employment with occasional telework flexibility for local employees.
  • Health, life, disability, retirement, and savings benefits, depending on position.
  • Paid time off and holiday pay.
  • Learning and development opportunities and wellness programs.
