Sr. Principal Embedded Software Engineer (IoT)

Location: Fully onsite in Greenville, Wisconsin, United States; remote and hybrid arrangements are not available. The role requires hands-on testing inside vehicles and may involve occasional travel to customer sites.

Pay range: $104,100–$173,900 annually.

What you will do

• Design and develop embedded software for connected vehicle solutions, including telematics, edge computing, remote diagnostics, OTA capabilities, vehicle network integration, and video recording and streaming.
• Provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on and ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, maintainable, and cost-effective.
• Establish software architecture standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices while mentoring engineers.
• Support Agile execution by improving backlog readiness, removing technical roadblocks, and helping deliver sprint and release commitments.
• Perform hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and validation inside large vocational vehicles in manufacturing and field environments.
• Collaborate with embedded, cloud, frontend, and product teams to resolve cross-functional challenges and deliver end-to-end solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of embedded software development experience using C and C++.
• Experience developing and testing embedded software on Embedded Linux platforms.
• Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP and UDP.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and embedded development best practices.
• Ability and willingness to work onsite in Greenville and conduct hands-on testing inside vehicle cabs.

Nice to have

• Rust experience.
• Automotive or heavy-duty vehicle network experience with CAN, J1939, and related protocols.
• Portable embedded software development, cross-compilation, platform abstraction, board bring-up, BSP integration, and hardware/software debugging.
• Multimedia frameworks and protocols such as FFmpeg, GStreamer, RTP, RTSP, or WebRTC.
• Experience solving complex technical problems and influencing without authority.
