Salary: $43,888–$48,853.08 annually, approximately $3,657.34–$4,071.09 monthly.

What you will do

  • Lead and evaluate outdoor recreation programs, adventure trips, workshops, clinics, team-building activities, and special events.
  • Manage equipment rental operations, inventory, maintenance, purchasing, replacement planning, and daily service delivery.
  • Oversee rock wall operations, trail and future beachfront recreation programming, equipment needs, staffing, and operational standards.
  • Develop and maintain risk management practices, emergency action plans, safety procedures, participant documentation, and operational protocols.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate student employees while delivering leadership development, coaching, and experiential learning.
  • Manage program budgets, conduct First Aid/CPR/AED training, assess participation and learning outcomes, and collaborate with campus and community partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Recreation, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Sports Management, or a related field.
  • At least one year of professional experience in outdoor recreation, campus recreation, experiential education, or a related field.
  • Experience planning and evaluating outdoor programs, managing risk and equipment operations, and supervising student employees.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain it within six months; First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification must be obtained within one year.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, manage multiple priorities, collaborate with diverse populations, and work some evenings and weekends.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Recreation, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field.
  • Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace Trainer, or other recognized outdoor certifications.
  • Experience managing collegiate outdoor recreation, rock wall, equipment rental, adventure programming, budgets, or program assessment.
  • Experience supervising graduate assistants and collaborating with state agencies, parks departments, or community partners.
