TL;DR

Surgical Technologist - Labor & Delivery (Operating Room): Providing perioperative patient care and supporting surgeons during Labor & Delivery procedures with an accent on sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, intraoperative counts, and equipment management. Focus on preparing operating rooms, managing specimens and medications, assisting with patient positioning and transport, and maintaining safe room turnover.

Location: Lowell General Hospital, Lowell, Massachusetts, United States; onsite Labor & Delivery role. Schedule: 36 hours per week, 11:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m., with every other weekend and specified winter and summer holiday coverage required.

Pay range: $32.00–$39.90 per hour. Experienced candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.

What you will do

Provide surgical technologist support throughout perioperative procedures in the Operating Room and Labor & Delivery.
Prepare and organize instruments, supplies, equipment, and operating rooms for surgical cases.
Maintain strict aseptic technique during setup, patient draping, and procedures.
Scrub surgical cases, support surgical counts, manage specimens and intraoperative medications according to hospital policy.
Assist with patient positioning, movement, transport, decontamination, and room turnover.
Support quality improvement, emergency preparedness, staff orientation, precepting, and continuing education.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, qualifying military training, or qualifying surgical technologist employment before July 1, 2013.
Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) required for technologists employed after July 1, 2013.
12 months to less than 3 years of healthcare experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to work onsite at Lowell General Hospital and cover the stated evening, weekend, and holiday schedule.
