Principal Architect

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States

Base salary: $140,000–$190,000 per year, with potential variable compensation including bonuses, commissions, and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Define organizational and enterprise architecture direction in alignment with corporate business strategy.
• Assess the current technology environment and develop strategic roadmaps, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and architecture standards.
• Guide the AWS and Azure cloud journey, including integration with on-premise applications and infrastructure.
• Lead complex projects and enterprise-level application rollouts, driving architectural decisions, proofs of concept, migration plans, and implementation support.
• Document systems, architecture designs, strategic artifacts, dashboards, recommendations, and compliance with architectural principles.
• Collaborate with business leaders, application, infrastructure, network, and security teams, vendors, and research partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
• 7–10+ years of relevant experience, including 2–3 years in enterprise architecture.
• Enterprise-level experience designing, developing, and implementing application solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of application, information, infrastructure, network, and security architectures.
• Demonstrable experience with AWS, Azure, cloud connectivity, network security, and SaaS or PaaS integration.
• Experience leading architectural discussions, running proofs of concept, making decisions, collaborating across technology teams, and working with vendors.

Nice to have

• Financial services experience, including industry data standards and architectures.
• Experience with Oracle Insurance Policy Administration or Wealth Management Accelerator.
• Domain expertise in annuities and insurance, plus knowledge of mainframe and COBOL systems.
• Experience with AWS integration services such as Batch, Glue, Data Pipeline, Kinesis, SNS, and SQS.
