Lead Architect (AI)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States

Annual base salary: $169,400–$279,600, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Define architecture for multiple technology and business domains within a business unit.
• Establish strategic architecture, target states, technology roadmaps, patterns, and guidelines for a new AI-native claims platform.
• Define and conduct hands-on technology proof-of-concepts to validate architectural solutions.
• Lead technology modernization and transformation initiatives while reducing technical debt.
• Analyze industry and technology trends to identify opportunities and assess their impact on the enterprise.
• Partner with technology, business, engineering, and senior leadership to align architecture direction, execution, and business imperatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM or technology field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 7 additional years of architecture or software engineering experience, with 8–10 years of architecture experience preferred.
• At least 2 years of technical leadership experience.
• Experience implementing large-scale custom or homegrown platforms and AI solutions.
• Expertise in microservices, event-driven architecture, API design, and emerging agentic architecture patterns.
• Experience with agile operating models, transformational change, technology roadmaps, business capability models, and executive communication.

Nice to have

• Insurance technology or extensive insurance industry experience.
