Senior Distinguished Scientist – Transgenic Model & Technology (AI)

Location: Montpellier or Vitry-sur-Seine, France; international travel is required. Hybrid work is available, with remote work up to 2 days per week.

Salary: €76,000–€101,333 gross annually, plus short-term and collective variable compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the global Transgenic Model & Technology function within the Translational In Vivo Models department.
• Develop and advance CRISPR-based genome engineering strategies and genetically modified animal models across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Evaluate and implement new transgenesis, CRISPR/Cas, genome engineering, AI, and digital technologies.
• Advise research programs on in vivo and preclinical study design and align transgenic capabilities with long-term research priorities.
• Lead cross-functional teams and projects across sites, therapeutic divisions, CROs, model providers, and academic partners.
• Manage budgets, partnerships, contracts, mentoring, and development of a high-performing scientific team.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Developmental Biology, or a related discipline.
• Extensive post-doctoral or industry experience in mouse molecular genetics and transgenic animal model development.
• Expertise in CRISPR/Cas9, Cas12, base editors, prime editors, and other advanced genome engineering systems.
• Strong knowledge of molecular biology, mouse genetics, embryology, reproductive technologies, and transgenic facility operations.
• Scientific leadership experience in an academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology research environment, including transversal team leadership.
• Fluent English is required for global collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience across immunology, oncology, rare diseases, or neuroscience.
• Familiarity with AI and digital technologies for biological research, model design, and data analysis.
