EMBL Sabbatical Programme Call 2026/2027 (Scientific Research)

Location: Based at one of hirify.global’s six sites in Heidelberg, Barcelona, Grenoble, Hamburg, Cambridge (Hinxton), or Rome; a significant portion of the sabbatical must be spent on-site at the hosting campus.

Salary: Applicants must continue to receive a salary from their home institution during the sabbatical.

What you will do

• Conduct a three- to six-month period of scientific reflection and high-level dialogue with hirify.global hosts and the wider community.
• Share scientific strengths, knowledge, technologies, and methodologies with hirify.global researchers.
• Learn from hirify.global groups and build cross-disciplinary professional connections.
• Explore opportunities to initiate or strengthen individual and institutional collaborations.
• Present seminars or talks at the beginning and end of the sabbatical visit.
• Complete a feedback survey and short progress report for the Scientific Visitor Programme.

Requirements

• Hold a position as a principal investigator, independent scientist, or technical expert at a research institution anywhere in the world, valid before and after the visit.
• Obtain approval from the home institution and continue receiving its salary during the sabbatical.
• Commit to spending a significant portion of the sabbatical on-site at one hirify.global campus.
• Identify at least one hirify.global team or group leader who will act as the primary host.
• Be prepared to give at least two seminars or talks during the visit.
