Remote Behavioral Medical Director (Psychiatry)

Pay range: $236,500–$449,300 per year

What you will do

• Assist the Chief Medical Director in directing medical management, quality improvement, credentialing, utilization management, and cost-containment functions.
• Perform medical reviews for utilization, quality assurance, complex or controversial services, experimental treatments, claims, and medical necessity appeals.
• Conduct rounds for high-risk patients and coordinate care with care management teams to improve outcomes.
• Support performance improvement initiatives for capitated providers and identify adverse utilization trends, unusual practice patterns, and clinical quality opportunities.
• Collaborate with clinical teams, network providers, appeals teams, and medical and pharmacy consultants.
• Support physician committees, provider education, network development, market expansion, and representation at state or other committees.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree.
• Board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
• Current unrestricted MD or DO license without government-program restrictions, limitations, or sanctions.
• Active medical practice and knowledge of utilization management; familiarity with quality accreditation standards is preferred.
• Ability to support medical management and quality programs in accordance with regulatory, state, corporate, and accreditation requirements.
• Availability to work weekends or holidays when required by business operations.

Nice to have

• Certification in Child Psychiatry.
• Coursework in health administration, health financing, insurance, or personnel management.
• Experience treating or managing care for culturally diverse populations.
