Behavioral Health Medical Director (Psychiatry)

Location: Remote Louisiana, United States; occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $223,800–$313,100 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead behavioral health care strategy and operational initiatives.
• Determine whether requested services, levels of care, and sites of service should be authorized using clinical judgment and medical evidence.
• Apply national clinical guidelines, CMS policies, and Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid requirements.
• Develop procedures, processes, productivity targets, and new care delivery models while supporting quality and financial goals.
• Provide information for pricing guidelines based on utilization patterns and client demographics.
• Collaborate with physicians, physician groups, facilities, community organizations, and care management teams on value-based care, population health, and regional priorities.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree.
• At least 5 years of direct clinical patient care experience after residency or fellowship.
• Current and ongoing board certification in an approved ABMS medical or ABPN specialty.
• Current, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and willingness to obtain additional licenses if required.
• No current sanctions from federal or state government organizations and ability to pass credentialing requirements.
• Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, and interpretation skills, with experience in quality management, utilization management, case management, discharge planning, home health, or post-acute services.

Nice to have

• Experience with managed care, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, commercial insurance, hospitals, integrated delivery systems, or clinical group practice management.
• Utilization management experience in a medical management review organization.
• Experience with MCG or InterQual guidelines.
• Clinical background in psychiatry, internal medicine, family practice, geriatrics, hospitalist medicine, or emergency medicine.
• Advanced degree such as an MBA, MHA, or MPH, plus exposure to public health, population health, analytics, or business metrics.
